Vista Mombacho Apartments

 

Vista Mombacho is an upscale ten unit apartment community located in beautiful historic Granada, Nicaragua. The project is designed for those who may be thinking about relocating to a foreign country and want to give it a try before they invest. Our residents include those who are working on social programs and other community service endeavors.

These are all long term rentals from six months or more. However exceptions can be made but there will be no overnight or weekly rentals. Each one bedroom air conditioned unit has a kitchenette, living area, four burner stove with oven, frost free refrigerator, double stainless steel sink, hardwood cabinets, walk in closet or closet with sliding doors and each closet has built in drawer units and rods to hang clothes. The units are furnished with bed, curtains, living room furniture, a dining table or island, depending on the design. Each kitchen is fully equipped from glasses to flatware, pots and pans, dishes and standard cooking utensils. The bathroom has a hot water shower (rare in third world countries), hand sink and toilet.

The air conditioners are high efficiency and the adjustable Titan tank less water heaters use power only when the hot water faucet is open for maximum efficiency. The apartments that have exposure to the sun have eight inches of insulation, cane ceilings and corrugated metal roofs covered with reflective insulated radiant barrier and topped with native tile.

In addition there is also wireless Internet and also a hard wired router with a direct connection to the Internet for secure transactions. The router is in a non broadcasting so it will not show up on a computer unless you have the passcode. This prevents others from using the Internet connection which would slow it down for the residents as well as providing security from those who cruise the neighborhood looking for open access routers.

There is a large community kitchen available by reservation in the event that our guests would like to have a large group for dinner or just don't want to a lot of people in their apartment. This full equipped kitchen is for large parties or just more guests than you have room for in your apartment. This kitchen is designed for the ultimate in entertainment. Once you have completed your event just walk away. Our staff will take care of everything from washing the dishes to moping the floor. There is a two floor bedroom unit without a kitchen that will sleep five. This is also available by reservation for those friends who are visiting and don't want to pay for expensive hotels.

The front sala or living area is a common space furnished with tables and chairs that can be configured for conferences or meetings. Several residents are in the process of building or in the due diligence stage and need to meet with builders, contractors or others and may not wish to have them inside their apartment.

The third floor is a terrace area with a BBQ grill, stove, sink, ice chest, hammocks, air chairs and is a social area open to everyone. It has a semi circular BYOB bar with double stainless steel sink and bar sink. From the third floor is a view of the city of Granada and lake Nicaragua. The salt water swimming pool is located on property in a secluded garden area landscaped with local vegetation. The pool area has an outdoor shower, half bath and a BYOB bar. The property has a security guard, closed circuit cameras, housekeeping service as well as cable TV and telephone connection.

With over 35 years in the security industry as a police officer and detective and a consultant for the better hotels and resorts in the Caribbean security is a major concern. To that end we have tried to anticipate every possible event and take steps to insure the safety and security of our guests.

Each apartment has a laptop safe with a digital combination that is set by the resident so only you have access to the safe. There is an over ride key in the event of a failure of the mechanism which is in a sealed envelope locked in our safe. Should it be necessary to use the key the resident will be provided with the envelope to verify it has not been tampered with, The safe is bolted inside the closet which can also be locked. The front doors have keyless deadbolt locks which when activated from the inside prevents anyone from entering the apartment as there is no access from the outside. The locks on the front door use the latest electronic technology. Unlike the swipe cards you may be familiar with in the larger hotels these locks use a radio frequency transmitter which when placed close to the lock allow it to open. Additionally the locks have over a million combinations, require special equipment to program so it is impossible to duplicate the card. The locks also have an audit trail so it is possible to know which card was used to open the door as well as the date and time. Of course the combinations are changed upon the arrival of a new resident.

Three of the units on the ground floor have a private garden. The main salon at the front has tables and chairs for business meetings as well as a library and computer area on the second floor loft. Included in the cost of the units is water but each unit is metered separately for electricity. If you have an automobile there are several car parks in the area that offer 24 hour security. Access to the property is strictly controlled by the security personal and no persons are permitted on the property without approval of the resident or staff for showing the property. The is no "just dropping by to look around."

At this time the units are almost complete however Union Fenosa, the power company, is a little slow to connect the needed transformer so the scheduled opening date may be December 2011. Watch this page for updates.
